Groundwork - pouring and finishing slab
It is time to pour the slab. We are using Smith's again
and this time we are using a Gen 3 and pouring to a minimum depth
of 100mm.
When pouring we are raking it out to all the areas and getting
a bit of level to it.
Instead of a beam screed we are using a 50mm x 120mm x 5.1 m board
to get a level on the slab.
We will let this dry for approximately 4 hours. Once the concrete
has start to set we are using a power float.
Our first runs are with a pan which is a bit more forgiving to
start with. We do one pass over the wait 30 - 45 minuates then another.
Our final 2 runs are with the paddles. The paddles are tilted at
an increasing angle each time. This gives a smooth finish.
To keep the slab from drying out too fast we have waited several
more hours then covered with a layer of sand.
