Groundwork - Drainage & Insulation
We are packing 150 mm of hardcore (crusher run) from Wildmore
Aggregate. It is far more economical to buy in bulk.
We are getting ready to lay the underground plumbing and the first
step is to line the trench with peagravel.
Due to the restrictions we have on height we are running the drainage
as straight as possible to make the best use of the fall.
We have choosed Hepworth's
caly drain products. These cost a little more than the plastic and
require a bit more care when installing but offers the best product.
We are making sure that we are obtaining a ratio of 300mm fall
for 12 metres of pipe.
Once the pipe is layed then the building inspector comes out and
inspects the drainage. Now we are ready to cover the pipes with
pea gravel then hardcore and a blinding layer of sand.
Now we will put in 75mm of insulation below the slab and around
the DPC.
Then we lay our plastic sheeting. We are using a 350mu.
